Innovation in CS, IS, and IT Education: Navigating the Next Frontier

SACLA 2025, the 54th Annual Conference of the Southern African Computer Lecturers’ Association, will be hosted by the Department of Computer Science & Informatics of the University of the Free State. The conference, to be held in Bloemfontein, South Africa, at the beautiful Tuscan Rose from 30 July to 1 August 2025, will provide a forum for the discussion of original research and practical experiences in teaching and learning Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, and related disciplines. The conference programme will include research paper sessions, plenary keynote addresses, panels and workshops. We invite submissions of full papers, research-in-progress papers and panel proposals on topics from researchers and practitioners from any country.

SACLA

SACLA (the Southern African Computer Lecturers’ Association) is a formal association of academics, involved in education, lecturing and teaching of Computer Science (CS), Information Systems (IS), and related Information Technology (IT) subjects at universities and other Higher Education Institutions throughout Southern Africa.  The main activity of SACLA is an annual conference, at which issues relating to CS, IS and IT education, teaching and research in Southern Africa are presented and discussed.

Publication Opportunities

The papers presented at the annual SACLA conference are published in accredited conference proceedings. For SACLA 2025, selected high-quality full papers will be published in a Springer Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) volume, which is Scopus-indexed. All other accepted full papers will be eligible for inclusion in the SACLA 2025 local conference proceedings, which meet the standards required for DHET subsidy. The SACLA Programme Committee remains committed to maintaining the high quality of all accepted publications and to providing meaningful publication opportunities for researchers in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems, and IT Education.
